When assembling a microscope system with an infinity corrected objective, there are two settings for using the camera for live video input and still frame capture. Depending on the simplicity of the setup, the digital microscope system can be built quickly and easily with magnifications up to 200 times. The more straightforward setup involves only four components: camera, extension tube, lens barrel and microscope objective.

The four-component system makes it easy to set up a direct video microscope with high magnification and high resolution or high frame rate; for example, it can achieve a very high pixel count of 3840x2748 (10.5MP) at a frame rate of 3 frames per second (fps) Resolution image, or very fast image x480 (0.36MP) of 100fps with 752 pixels.
